World Fit Walk
Stand with Aggies, Athletes, and Armed Forces in efforts to serve as health role models through the World Fit Walk!
The World Fit Walk is a 6-week fitness initiative founded by Olympian Gary Hall, Sr. to reduce and prevent childhood obesity. World Fit at Texas A&M is brought to you by the Department of Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences and involves a kickoff event and 6 coordinated one-mile weekly walks. The initiative also encourages an overall increase in physical activity by logging steps into a fitness-tracking app. The app chosen this year is Pedometer (available free on IOS and Android).
This year’s kickoff event will occur on Monday, April 2nd at 12:00 pm on the steps of the Annenberg Presidential Center at the Bush Library, with guest speakers Commandant Joe Ramirez and motivational speaker Stephen Mackey, followed by a 1-mile walk.
Weekly walks will be at the School of Public Health on Fridays at 11:30 am at the front of the SPH Admin Building
Additional walks will be coordinated this year during the first 2 weeks of the initiative on Fridays, April 6th and 13th at 11:30 at the following locations: Reed Arena, Kyle Field, The Quad and Blocker
There will also be two walks held on the third week, to support the Department of Health and Kinesiology’s Able, Active, and Adaptive: Healthy Living Across the Lifespan 2018 Climate and Diversity Conference on Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st at 9:00 AM at the PEAP building
