Shopping & Dining
The La Plaza Mall, a regional shopping mall, has over 140 stores and is one of Simon Properties' highest grossing retail malls in the nation. Drawing from northern Mexico, the mall is known to generate more than 18 million visitors annually.
Palms Crossing, an open atmosphere mall with many restaurants, is located off the expressway adjacent to the new convention center.
Additionally, the Rio Grande Valley Premium Outlet Mall is a 20 minute drive from McAllen.

Here you’ll see the largest collection of exhibits and artifacts covering South Texas’ fantastic-but-true history. The exhibits offer broad overview of the region – from prehistoric tribes through Spanish exploration and colonization, the Mexican War, Rio Grande steamboat era and Civil War.
