Assistant Professor

The Department of Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences (HPCHS) invites applications for tenure-track, 11-month, faculty appointment at the assistant professor rank. Consideration will be given to applicants with expertise in any area of social and behavioral health sciences.

About the Position

Administratively located in the nationally-ranked CEPH-accredited School of Public Health (SPH), the Department offers the Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree programs. The Department and the SPH prepare professionals to transform health through interdisciplinary inquiry and innovative solutions in an increasingly diverse and global society. We are committed to engaging in research that will lead to equity in the public’s health and in working with diverse student and community populations.  We encourage applications from individuals whose background and/or interests align with this commitment.

The Department has 11 outstanding faculty members (two Regents, Distinguished Professors) and houses the Center for Community Health Development, the Center on Population Health and Aging, and the Program for Research and Outreach Engagement on Nutrition and Health Disparities Solutions.

This position requires candidates who have developed or demonstrate great potential for developing a strong research program and excellent teaching ability. Qualifications include a PhD, Dr.PH, or other appropriate doctoral degree from public health or a related field. The candidate should have a strong record of research and scholarly work; highly effective interpersonal skills; and the ability to work well with inter-disciplinary and diverse teams.
