Research and Training

The Faculty within the department represents a wide array of disciplines, expertise, and interests. The departmental members come from backgrounds in public health, industrial engineering, human factors, toxicology, environmental chemistry, and epidemiology. 

Collectively they have conducted numerous studies and projects that include:

  • Development of assessment tools for office ergonomics
  • Investigations into effective procedure writing and displays
  • Occupational safety interventions
  • Environmental carcinogenesis
  • Border health
  • Asthma education and management
  • Exposure assessment and toxicology studies related to a variety of environmental contaminants
  • Innovative strategies for removal of environmental contaminants
