Paul McGaha is the regional director for Health Service Regions 4 and 5 of the Texas Department of State Health Services. This encompasses a 35-county area in East Texas. He received his medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Oklahoma State University. He is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine. In addition, he holds a Master of Public Health degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He is also a pharmacist.
Regional programs within his oversight include the regional Social Work Program, the Epidemiological Response Team, Environmental and Consumer Health Protection, Family Health Services, the HIV/STD Program, the Immunization Division, Public Health Nursing, Nutrition Services, Community Health, the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, and the Tuberculosis Elimination Program.
